UPSC Civil Services (IAS/IPS) Photo Rules 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is unique because it requires a Square Aspect Ratio for both photographs and signatures. Most other exams use rectangular formats.

1. Photograph Requirements:

Dimensions: Minimum 350 x 350 pixels. Maximum 1000 x 1000 pixels.
File Size: Between 20 KB and 300 KB.
Format: JPG / JPEG only.
Photo Age: The photo must be clicked within 10 days of the start of the application process.
Name/Date: The candidate's name and the date of the photo should be clearly printed on the photo (Check the latest official notification as this rule changes).

2. Signature Requirements:

Dimensions: Minimum 350 x 350 pixels. Maximum 1000 x 1000 pixels.
Resolution: Even though the signature is rectangular, the canvas size must be square (350x350) according to pixel guidelines.
File Size: Between 20 KB and 300 KB.
